Recycling Symbols and IDs
  • How to figure out if a product is recyclable or has come from recycled materials

When buying paper, look for packaging that displays the chasing arrows within a circle. This indicates that the paper contains recycled content. The symbol is often confused with the chasing arrows symbol, which simply indicates that a product may be recycled.

Recycling symbol, black chasing arrows or Recycling symbol, hollow chasing arrows

Chasing arrows
contained inside a circle

Means that the paper it is printed on was made partly or entirely from recycled paper.

Chasing arrows NOT contained inside a circle These two symbols simply encourage people to recycle paper when they discard it. This does not mean that the paper the symbol is printed on is recycled paper.
