Updated on 08-12-2009
The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Program is pleased to announce the
completion of programming changes to pay benefits and to allow claimants
to file for state extended benefits (SEB). Letters have been mailed to
all potentially eligible claimants advising them of the need to apply
for SEB online. To apply, visit
www.coworkforce.com, click on Unemployment Online Services,
and then click on SEB Online
Application.
An informational insert that explains the specific requirements of
SEB was included with the letters. To view the letter in both Spanish
and English click here.

On June 2, 2009, Governor Ritter signed Senate Bill
09-247, which authorizes SEB. SEB increase the number of weeks of UI
benefits when the total unemployment rate, or TUR, reaches the following
levels. The TUR is averaged over three months.
- If the average TUR reaches 6.5 percent, up to 13
weeks of additional benefits may be paid.
- If the average TUR reaches 8 percent, up to 20
weeks of additional benefits may be paid.
SEB benefits may only be added after all regular UI
and EUC (federal additional benefits) are paid. If the TUR reaches the
appropriate levels and you qualify, the UI Program contacts you. You do
not need to take any action unless you are contacted. You should
continue to claim weeks on CUBLine Online or on CUBLine in case there
are additional benefits.
